Associate Director, Software Asset Management [Czech Republic]


 

Our Novartis Information Security Centre continues to evolve. As part of our continued evolution we are looking for an Associate Director, Software Asset Management to join our Software Asset Management group!

Novartis is continuously reshaping its business portfolio through merger, acquisition and divestment activities that directly impact Software costs, assets and license compliance. In this role, you'll assess, evaluate, monitor and report the financial/operational impact on the software costs, SW assets and licenses compliance resulting from the M&A and divestment activities.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Being the single point of contact and the SAM business partner for the M&A department and key business leaders. Assessing, evaluating, and reporting to/with the M&A key business leaders on:
  • Software license requirements, both financial/operational, of acquired entities and for developing, implementing and coordinating with M&A the licenses cost allocation model and the associated TSA charging model for divestments
  • Financial reports, analyzing financial data, monitoring internal controls and evaluating and managing license compliance risk
  • Financial/operational impact on the SW costs, assets and licenses compliance on- premise and cloud-based for pre and post M&A activity
  • Definition of the M&A reporting framework, and working with service provider to set up and enhance SAM reporting
  • SAM budgeting, LO, LF2 and other financial reporting processes including controlling activities
In addition, you'll be:
  • Collaborating with IT functions, sourcing and finance to assess their detailed reporting needs, then mapping needs back to existing Software Asset Management reporting systems (Aspera SmartTrack and SAM Intelligence)
  • Working closely with the IT functions to ensure they have the proper reporting and knowledge to manage their Business Divisions software license compliance and spend in an effective and cost efficient manner (act as SAM BPA to the IT functions)
  • Providing strategy and guidance for improvements in SAM financial/operational reporting and keep reporting relevant and up to date, make reports available to IT and business/finance functions
  • Ensuring that engaged Service Provider/Development Partner meets defined SLAs and deadlines
  • Aligning reporting needs with new technology usage of Novartis (i.e. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, containers, virtualization)
  • Supporting SW vendor audits (pre and post M&A) with relevant reports, as agreed case by case with the Head of Software Asset Management. Fully understand reporting obligations towards publishers and ensure financial impact is estimated and risk managed
  • Extracting relevant license information from a variety of systems (SAM System, ERP, BW, contract DB, Finance cube, etc.)

Minimum requirements

What you'll need:
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable education/experience
  • 10+ years of business controlling experience
  • Strong expertise in Software Asset Management principles and systems
  • Extensive experience and excellent professional skills in the area of financial cost controlling, cost allocation, compliance, licensing and reporting
  • Solid experience in finance management with sound knowledge of accounting and business controlling fundamentals with
  • Proven ability to operate successfully in a matrixed organisation with ability to build and maintain relationshisp with senior busienss leaderes
  • Proficiency in English (written and Oral)

Nice to have:
  • Master's Degree or MBA
  • Aspera SmartTrack and SAM intelligence Module knowledge
  • Professional financial/accounting designation (e.g., CPA)
